Summer Academy classes now enrolling at three Kyrene Corridor schools

The Kyrene School District is now enrolling for the Community Education Summer Academy classes that are held from June 10 – July 3.

The philosophy of the classes is to promote life-long leaning in the community through enrichment opportunities, diversified curriculum and enhancement activities.

“This is a very popular program that fills up quickly,” said Trace Baker, a spokesperson for the Kyrene School District.

The academy classes, held in several district schools including Cielo and Manitas Elementary and Kyrene Middle School in the Kyrene Corridor, are offered to multi-age groups in several grade level groups.

Courses for grade school age students include: academic assistance, art, computers, drama, foreign language, home economics, language arts, life skills, mathematics, music, physical education, science, special education reading, social studies and summer stretch for gifted learners.

Adults may enroll is courses that cover everything from yoga to art and decorating to keyboarding.

Early childhood classes for preschool and kindergarteners are also available.

Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Tuition is $60 per class. Scholarships are available. The deadline to enroll is April 26.
