Awards program honors west Chandler officer’s service

His face may be familiar to west Chandler residents, but many of his accomplishments likely are not.

Officer Troy Spielman, assigned to the Chandler Police Department’s Beat 3 area, from Price to McClintock roads, is among officers recognized in the department’s annual awards program.

According to his nomination, Spielman has set the standard as a diligent and observant police officer.

Reports the award:

“Officer Spielman routinely gathers, develops and cultivates information he receives and routes that information to our department’s Intelligence Unit, where complex criminal investigations are investigated.

“He has played a key role in the apprehension of numerous suspects.

“In one case, Officer Spielman developed information regarding multiple property crimes and provided the information to (another) unit which, in return, arrested 20 suspects and recovered 14 stolen cars.

“In another instance, Officer Spielman, along with other officers, located a subject parked in a car.  When contacted, the subject was found with a two-way radio. A check of the neighborhood turned up an accomplice who also had a two-way radio. They had been committing numerous neighborhood burglaries.

Said Det. Robert Krautheim, the department’s public information officer:

“This represents just a sampling of the outstanding contributions that Officer Spielman has made to the protection of human life and property through his law enforcement techniques.

“He is a dedicated and vigilant officer who continues to raise the bar for others to follow. His distinguished service to Chandler, the surrounding communities and his department is greatly appreciated.”
