Morning
and evening meetings of Kyrene Parent
Network, a new parent-run organization,
will be held Thursday, Oct. 27, at two
area locations—10:15 a.m. at Chandler
Sunset Library and 7 p.m. at Phoenix
Ironwood Library.
Inspired by parent-founded councils in
other school districts, the group is
structured as a non-profit corporation,
with officers, by-laws, a mission
statement and yearly goals.
The group
is open to parents, educators and
community members. Its focus is
educational issues at grade levels pre-K
through 12, inside and outside of the
Kyrene district.
Objectives
include fostering involvement and
communication within the parent body of
the Kyrene area schools, and across the
community at large.
The group
also will offer parent support,
enrichment topics at meetings and
parent-to-parent as well as
parent-to-community networking
opportunities in our own district as
well as between districts. Parents,
voters, community members and anyone
with an interest in educational issues
is urged to attend either of the
meetings.
