Kyrene preparing back-to-school fetes

Kyrene School District is gearing up in preparation for students to return to school Monday, Aug. 11.

School offices opened the week of July 28 and will remain open until school begins taking school registrations.

Students and families are invited to attend Meet the Teacher Night programs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 for middle school students and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 for elementary school students.

The events feature valuable information for both parents and children.

Students will have the opportunity to meet new teachers while their parents learn more about the schools.

Some Kyrene schools are offering special events to welcome their children back.

Mariposa: Parent volunteers in red vests will be seen from across the campus, the vests signifying their role in providing assistance to parents. Mariposa is honored to have such a strong parent volunteer base.

Paloma: Paloma will be offering a special welcome-back event for the parents of their students. Parents are invited to a Welcome Back Breakfast on the first day of school.  Once children begin class, parents are invited to a special breakfast just for them.

Pueblo: Pueblo sixth graders are invited to a special orientation at 9 a.m. Aug. 7. Students will receive schedules and travel to the site of their first-period class.  They also will receive a tour of the campus and meet all of their teachers.
