Building ‘hoop stars’

Tempe's honored coaches are ready to train your kids to be basketball stars!

Kiwanis Park Recreation Center is still accepting boys for it's Hoop Star basketball camps.

Former Corona coaches Sammy Duane, Joe Maisel, and former Marcos De Niza coach Sam Antcliff are leading the general and specific camps.

The general basketball camp will include instruction on shooting, technique, dribbling skills, ball handling, defensive play, rebounding, individual and team play.  Participants may attend more than one camp.  There is a $60 fee per player per session, and grades one through 12 are accepted.

Specific basketball camps are available for shooting and offensive skills.

Shooting camp will focus on technique and form, and will be offered during July 21 - 25.
 

Players grades two through eight meet daily for one and a half hours, for a fee of $60.

Players grades nine through 12 meet daily for two hours, for a fee of $80. 

Offensive specialty camp inculdes shooting as well as ball handling, both in a more intense atmosphere, and runs from July 28 to Aug. 1.

All campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

The recreation center is located at 6111 S. All America Way in tempe.  Space is limited and advance registration is required.
