Kyrene Athletes of the Week

Kristen Travers, Addison Picard - Pueblo Middle School

Kristen Travers and Addison Picard, of Pueblo Middle School, share honors as Kyrene Athletes of the Week. They exemplify the goals of the Kyrene athletic program that emphasizes cooperation, sportsmanship and teamwork.

Kristen is a member of the 8th grade soccer team. She enjoys her sport and all of the fun she and her teammates have together.

Off the field Kristen stays busy with her studies and other school activities. She is the student council president this year having served as a council officer in the sixth and seventh grade.

Kristen is an honor roll student and a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She is also a past winner of the Pueblo Power Award.

An outstanding young lady in sports and in school, Kristen credits her parents for their ongoing support and encouragement and friend Shelby Arnold for her help in soccer.

Addison Picard captains the three-time conference champion Pueblo Bulldog wrestling team.

Addison has twice been individual conference champ and is a favorite to repeat as an 8th grader, joining only one other three-time winner in the school’s history.

He leads his teammates in workouts and models respect for his opponents and his sport. He is typically the first on the practice mat and the last to leave.

An honor roll student of great talent and ability, his coaches praise him for his character and dedication to his teammates and his own growth as a wrestler. Addision wants to give credit to his coaches, Scott Segerson and Brian Pollard, for his wrestling success.

Kyrene Athletes of the Week are selected by their schools’ coaches.
