Colina among top U.S. supporters of ‘Lights On’
Colina Kids Club has been named a National Supporting Organization for this year’s Lights On After school! celebration.
The observance, which takes place Oct. 9, will mark the fourth annual such rally.
Activities run from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. in the school’s multi-purpose room. The event will include a dance performance created by the children, an art gallery with the children’s works displayed, snacks, crafts, registration and more.
Nationwide, the event unites after-school programs and the communities they serve to celebrate the programs’ benefits and call attention to the support and resources necessary to sustain them and start new ones.
In 2002, more than 5,000 programs and 500,000 individuals around the country participated in the day’s events. Organizers expect an even larger turnout this year.
