Man sought in credit card thefts at churches
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who has been committing fraudulent purchases by using stolen credit cards taken from people attending churches in Chandler, Tempe, Ahwatukee and Mesa.
Because many of the illegal purchases were made in Chandler, police believe the suspect may live there. He is described as a white male approximately 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He is believed to have short brown hair and a mustache.
He recently was seen driving a gold-color Pontiac Sunfire with an unknown license-plate number. In addition, he has been seen on video surveillance with two children, approximately 3 and 9 years old. It is unclear if the suspect is responsible for the thefts from area churches, however police say he is responsible for the fraudulent use of credit cards.
To date, he has illegally purchased items valued at more than $5,500.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information to contact Chandler detective J.B. Stout at (480) 782-4409. As always, callers can remain anonymous if they wish.
