Five area children among cast of ‘Charlotte’s Web’

Charlotte’s Web spins a story of friendship at Desert Stages Children’s Theater

Five young-actors from the Kyrene Corridor will be appearing in the Desert Stages Children's Theatre production of Charlotte’s Web from April 13 through May 19.

Based on the 50-year-old book by E.B. White and featuring an original country gospel musical by Desert Stages Artistic Director Gerry Cullity, Charlotte's Web is a story that not only has endured the test of time but has received numerous honors, including "Best American Children's Book of the past 200 years" by the Children's Literature Association. Four alternating casts of nearly 150 young actors from across the Valley bring to life this barnyard story about Wilbur, the irresistible pig, headed for stardom as a result of Charlotte the Spider's ingenious plan to weave words in her web that will save him from the butcher's knife. Featured in this cast from the Kyrene Corridor are: Lindsay Wantland as "Fern", Nick Cross as "Avery", Ashlyn Cross and Mia Murphy as "Baby Spiders" and Cailie Cross as part of the ensemble.

Saturday and Sunday Matinees are at 1 and 3 p.m., plus two evening performances at 7:30 PM on May 17 and 18.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Reservations recommended. Box office: (480) 483-1664. Desert Stages Children's Theatre is at 8473 E. McDonald Dr. in Scottsdale.
