Country gospel musical features area girl

Kyrene Corridor resident Ashlyn Cross, a student a Bright Beginnings School, appears as a baby spider in Desert Stages Children’s Theatre production of Charlotte’s Web.

Based on the story by E.B. White, Charlotte and her baby spiders help devise a plan to save their pig pal Wilbur from a terrible fate in the original country gospel musical that runs through May 19.

Four additional young actors from the Corridor--Lindsay Wantland, Nick Cross, Cailie Cross and Mia Murphy--also appear in the production.

Saturday and Sunday matinees are at 1 and 3 p.m. In addition, there are two evening performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Reservations are recommended. Desert Stages Theatre is at 8473 E. McDonald Drive in Scottsdale. Box office: (480) 483-1664.
