Tempe-based Children’s Cancer Network will host its 9th annual Fashion Show and Luncheon fundraiser, “Twist and Shout,” Sunday, March 4, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort.
The event has been a passion forTemperesidents Steve and Patti Luttrell for more than 20 years, following their own experience with a son who was diagnosed with cancer at an early age.
While community and corporate support has grown for the network, the fashion show and luncheon has become a major source of funding, according to Diana Shaw, one of the program’s organizers.
The event features a selection of silent auction items and an “early bird” preview of live auction items. More than 700 guests are expected to join in a fashion show featuring child cancer survivors and their siblings modeling fashions from Dillard’s.
Some of the young models are still fighting cancer and some have already won, said Shaw. Each of their stories positive spirits have inspired a celebration of survival at previous events.
Said Patti Luttrell:
“Finding ways to lift these kids’ spirits fulfills an important part of our network’s overall mission; the fashion show gives them a fun, positive and self-esteem-building experience at a very uncertain time in their lives.”
“The fashion show also gives them the sense of satisfaction that they, too, are participating in the fight against cancer.”
Tickets for “Twist and Shout” are $70, and reservations can be made by visiting www.childrenscancernetwork.org .
Proceeds will benefit Children’s Cancer Network’s outreach programs.
