Nearly 18,000 well wishers, families and
just the plain curious turned out for
the opening of Tempe's newest crown
jewel on the shore of Tempe Town Lake.
On hand were city officials including
(lower balcony) Mayor Hugh Hallman,
center, council members Ben Arredondo,
right, and Hut Huston, left. Everyone
seemed to agree: For pure enjoyment, it
was an event that couldn't be topped.
For the visionaries who guided the
project to reality, it represented a
long-held dream come true. |
